We had an ugly spider (OK, there is no other kind) in the house the other day. Miss Language took some photos but he wasn’t cooperating so the best she got was this, as she gave him his freedom on the front porch:

I wondered what he is, but it took a few days to figure out why his little yellow triangle bothered me, this is it: we have been having a Star Trek fest and next up for watching was Gamesters of Triskelion, so, natch, his bright yellow triangle put me in mind of the battlefield:

yes, the very battle field that has a strong resemblance to the radioactive danger sign:

No wonder the spider needed to go.

Yes! If you recognize this, you are ahead of the maintenance staff at the camp we just returned from (we have renamed it Camp Poison Ivy, btw) who apparently do not recognize the stuff, which is as prolific there as dandelions in my yard. When it is pointed out to them, what do they do to eradicate it? Weed Whack it ~ spraying noxious shards far and wide. Ack.

And, is it just me, or does anyone else take one look at this and go, “Tower of Babel?” I won’t be surprised if there is a great scattering of people and many new courses to be added to Rosetta Stone’s offerings.

Miss Language has a favorite flower but we don’t know what it is. She bought it a few years back as an annual and we threw away the tag. It actually survived life in my garden and must reseed itself. Can you identify it so we can call it something more intelligent than Pillow Stars?

The only people who achieve much are those who want knowledge so badly that they seek it while conditions are still unfavourable.  Favourable conditions never come.
