Out With the Old January 3, 2008
Posted by carpebanana in : Ramblings , 3commentsIn the spirit of New-Yearness, we are getting some major clean-up done around here.
Yesterday Devastatingly Handsome dissassembled the crib which has been in our room since Mr Music’s infant days, serving as a junk repository. He replaced it with this bed
which has been in my family for several generations, it was converted about 75 years ago from a rope bed to the newfangled type that uses a real mattress rather than a sack of cornhusks. I am glad to have that in the corner of my room for when children are sick or company is visiting and a child needs to give up their room. OK, yes, that job was a bit overdue as Mr Music is now well into his permanent teeth, but I guess after five kids you just come to think a crib is normal.
And today we are tackling the so-called playroom which has been the room where toys and whatever else we don’t know what to do have been tossed. At the moment there are huge stacks of things being sorted, a conglomeration of Little People, books, Bionicles, woodburning stuff, Legos, potholder loops and red looms, pirates, Tinkertoys, game pieces, books, plastic soldiers, knights and castles, sundry teaching supplies, dolls, books, the box of rodent supplies from the gerbils that departed this world several years ago, craft projects, dress-up clothes, blocks ~ maybe you know the drill. Hopefully before bed the room will actually be available as a play space. That would make two great accomplishments before we are back to school.
