Geen Christmas December 23, 2007
Posted by carpebanana in : Ramblings , 3commentsLooks like a green Christmas around here in more than one way. The weather, of course, (in fact, we’ve had so much rain the puddles in our yard are large enough they seem to have their own tides going), but also Devastatingly has decided it’s time for the “green” lightbulbs.
The crew is not happy about this. First, the things are ugly, and second, the bulbs actually change skin tones. As a result, Miss Dance and Mr Music get a nice green glow going. Very festive, I’m sure.
Devastatingly has tried to install these, as he loves to say, sub rosa, while the kids are out for awhile. Devastatingly is color-blind, so he is stunned that the kids flip on a light for the first time after his little bit of handiwork and immediately call out, “DAAAAD! Not in my room, too?? Please??” But thus far de-greening is not an option. I imagine negotiations will continue.
The thing I don’t get - how is it better for the environment and our own personal finances to remove perfectly good lightbulbs so we can install pricey new ones? Probably there’s a dandy calculus equation that would run the whole analysis for me but we’re on school break so let’s just forget that option and enjoy the green children. They’ll look good at St Patrick’s day, too.
