Another Reason to Homeschool November 7, 2007

I have no idea if schools still use them, but just in case they do, that is a good reason to keep the Bananalets far far away. My high school used sporks in the cafeterias, which were called ‘lounges’ and had cool names like “The Luna Lounge.”
You gotta wonder how much the spork has contributed to our confused society. The spoon is a female thing, and yet it has picked up tines from the more male fork. The truly male knife, of course, was banished from school cafeterias even before the spork hit the scene.
Fruit Stickers November 7, 2007
Posted by carpebanana in : Ramblings , add a commentWay back when the spork reigned supreme in the cafeteria, I was in high school. In those days, bananas were the only fruit that came with stickers. Chiquita. My artsy friend Paul liked to stick one in the middle of his forehead and call it his third eye.And then for awhile the exotic fruits had stickers. Like uglis. Mum had an ugli sticker on her fridge just because of the novelty. She’s not big on throwing things out so it may still be there, maybe the Smithsonian would be interested by now.
Now Chiquita seems to be gone and all bananas are from Dole. Now you can order special stuffed banana pups or plush pineapples. Go figure.
I cannot get used to all fruit being branded. My grapes came in a bag with Mickey’s picture. Did he invent grapes off with his wand in Fantasia? And our cantaloupe last week had a Jungle Book sticker. Ack. It is just wrong.
