Here at the Bananas you never know what subjects will spontaneously juxtapose.
Mr Music gave me a reminder of that yesterday.
I like turkey liver. So I was frying this little annual morsel up for myself with some eggs when Mr Music came through to see if it was something he wanted to eat. He inquired and I offered to show him the other “parts” ~ which I do not favor and so they go in the trash here. Well, as we are in the midst of the Human Body lapbook, he was interested in the heart. So I had him pull out a small knife and we dissected it (here’s where you may be grateful to me for not taking photos). We saw the little chambers. Mr Music was amazed that I could actually handle it. Now for the juxtaposition of subject matter: he said, “How can you do that without casting?” ~ an obvious reference to the CD about William Bradford we had listened to, where he talks about the “casting and scouring” which occured after the settlers ate too many oysters shortly after landing.
Avian anatomy and American history, all in one neat little package, and not even on a schoolday.
AND ~~ to Jeana and family ~~ Welcome! I hope you all get a blog too so I can come read about your fun family adventures! I am sorry to hear of your own son’s painful encounter with a cactus and hope it was a valuable learning experience for him.
