Tradition June 1, 2007

Every family has their own mix of traditions. Well, in some that only sleep under the same roof, it seems the tradition is *no traditions* but maybe I won’t go there. In the Banana household, the Bananalets declare traditions at the drop of a peel. Anything they like instantly becomes a tradition, kind of like “The First Annual whatever.” Especially if it involves ~sugar~.  (Lest you underestimate the appeal of ~sugar~, just think of ~sugar~ to the tune of “Spam.”)

certain parties love ~sugar~

All that by way of rambling introduction.

There are some family traditions I just don’t get. One large extended family we know has a family special treat recipe that just bugs me. A special veggie dip, made by mixing equal parts of

red salty stuff

and

brown salty stuff

and what’s worse, they may not be the only ones who eat this. I actually found a similar recipe here

moral: watch out for what you eat when you don’t know what it is. You could sink your teeth into a tradition you want no part of.
